At Kern River Conservancy, we believe our strength comes from the people who protect and care for the Kern River and its watershed. We value the unique perspectives, skills, and backgrounds of our members and volunteers, recognizing that diversity enriches both our community and our conservation work.
We foster an environment of openness, respect, and active engagement, where everyone has the opportunity to contribute to keeping our river clean, healthy, and thriving. By embracing our differences and learning from one another, we grow as advocates for inclusion, equality, and environmental stewardship.
Together, we are a living example of how a diverse and united community can protect and preserve one of California’s most treasured natural resources for generations to come.
The Kern River Conservancy was founded in 2013 to address the increasing pollution and abuse of public lands along the Wild and Scenic Kern River. What began as a one-person effort by our founder has grown into a robust nonprofit organization supported by over 150 dedicated volunteers.
We educate visitors on Leave No Trace principles, organize river cleanups, and work alongside local, state, and federal agencies to protect this vital watershed. Our programs promote responsible recreation, conservation awareness, and environmental stewardship for all who enjoy the Kern River.
To protect the Wild and Scenic Kern River through education, advocacy, and community-driven stewardship.
