IRA Distribution

Support the Kern River Conservancy with an IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are age 70 ½ or older, you may transfer money directly from your IRA to the Kern River Conservancy. These gifts are not reported as taxable income. Beginning at age 72, your gift can also count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year, which may reduce your taxable income.

Important details to remember:

You may give up to $100,000 per calendar year in total non-taxable IRA distributions to one or more qualified 501(c)(3) charities, including the Kern River Conservancy.

Contact your IRA Plan Administrator and request that they send the rollover amount directly to the Kern River Conservancy. (We have a form available to make this request easier.)

The check must be made payable to the Kern River Conservancy.

Please let us know if you’d like to be acknowledged for your gift—many administrators do not include donor names unless you request it.

To count for the current tax year, your plan administrator must transfer the funds directly to the Kern River Conservancy by December 31.
